Desert Services International, a leader in the cellular tower industry, is hiring for full time Cell Tower Technicians. A Cell Tower Technician for Desert Services International works well in a team environment, has a basic understanding of tools and their usage, and is career oriented. Cell Tower Technicians perform civil construction tasks in the erection and upgrading of cellular towers, and perform trouble shooting on existing cellular towers. Desert Services International welcomes applicants that are new to the industry and who have a desire to establish themselves in a unique and rewarding trade.
Cell Technician/Tower Technician I
Employees with little or no experience in the wireless field will be hired as a Tower Technician I. The minimum qualifications for this position are:
- Possession of a Current and Valid Class D Driver’s License; within one (1) month of employment, employee must receive authorization from Desert Services International, Inc. insurance to operate company vehicles
- Able to complete physical examination and obtain DOT Operator Card
- Participate in and obtain an OSHA 10-hr Certification, First-Aid/CPR Certification, Aerial Lift Safety Certification, RF Awareness Certification
- Ability to Participate in and Contribute to a satisfactory on-site Job Safety Analysis
- Ability to complete work in a safe manner
- Ability to operate, under close supervision, an aerial lift and assist other tower technicians
- Ability to understand and take direction
- Ability to complete repetitive tasks with limited supervision
Cell Technician/Tower Technician II
Employees who possess all of the skills and qualifications for a Tower Technician I, may be considered for a promotion to a Tower Technician II. The qualifications for this position are:
- Have successfully and consistently demonstrated all of the qualifications as a Tower Technician I
- Have successfully completed the Desert Services International, Inc. Tower Safety Training Program
- Demonstrate competency in Hazard Recognition and ability to mitigate minor hazards
- Demonstrate ability to complete medium difficulty construction tasks with supervision
- Demonstrate the ability to operate an aerial lift safely under limited supervision
- Demonstrate the ability to complete assigned tasks as instructed with limited supervision
- Demonstrate proper use, inspection and care for a Personal Fall Arrest System
- Demonstrate the ability to work well with others and communicate with other employees
- Demonstrate the ability to climb and work on a communications tower safely under close supervision of a Tower Lead
Cell Technician/Tower Technician III
Employees who possess all of the required qualifications and certifications of Tower Technician I-II, may be considered for a promotion to a Tower Technician III. The qualifications for this position are:
- Demonstrate competency and a proactive approach to hazard recognition and mitigation
- Demonstrate the ability to complete all assigned construction tasks with limited to no supervision
- Demonstrate the ability to work with others to complete work in a timely and safe manner
- Demonstrate a basic knowledge and understanding of RF theory, testing and troubleshooting RF and Fiber Systems
- Demonstrate a basic knowledge and understanding of electrical work. Show the ability to accomplish AC and DC electrical work safely
- Demonstrate the ability to climb and work on a communications tower safely with limited to no supervision (only applicable to Tower Technician III)
